MongoDB GUI for Linux
A native MongoDB GUI for Linux.
BsonJet runs on Linux as a real desktop app, not a browser in disguise. Download the AppImage or the .deb, start it, connect. Copy data between servers, back up, watch your replica set. Free for personal use.
Why a MongoDB GUI on Linux is harder than it should be
- The light one is gone. Robo 3T, the favorite of many Linux users, is no longer developed. Its last version embeds the MongoDB 4.2 shell, and the Snap Store warns that its snap might be unmaintained.
- The official one is Electron. The Compass documentation tells Nvidia users to try
--disable-gpuif it does not render, and says Compass does not support virtual desktop environments on Linux. - The professional ones are Java or Electron. Studio 3T runs on Java and costs from $499 per user every year. NoSQLBooster is Electron; its AppImage needs FUSE 2 on Ubuntu and its tar.gz does not update itself.

What you get on Linux
- Nothing else to install. No .NET, no Java, no Node. Everything BsonJet needs is inside the package.
- Updates in one click. The AppImage downloads the new version, checks its checksum and signature and restarts. The .deb fits Debian, Ubuntu and their derivatives.
- Copy & paste at every level. Documents, collections and whole databases between servers, indexes included.
- Backups straight to an encrypted ZIP, mongodump-compatible, restore here or with mongorestore.
- Jobs that survive your VPN. A copy, backup or restore waits out a lost connection or a replica set election and continues where it stopped.
- Your whole cluster at a glance. Role, lag, disk and cache of every replica set member, with live performance charts.
- Query advisor. Slow queries grouped by shape with the index that would fix them, read from the server log, the profiler stays off.
- SSH tunnels built in, so the server behind your bastion host is one connection away. Saved passwords are protected by your login keyring (GNOME Keyring or KWallet).
